Wardrobe Tips 101
Discover your personal style
Discovering your style can be complicated and is always evolving. First, you have to learn about yourself and find confidence to figure what works for you. Following trends can also be helpful, it can be a form of inspiration. Look through different styles, create a fashion board, and play around with clothing-until you find your path. Your style is you.
Start a Capsule wardrobe
A capsule wardrobe is a small collection of staple pieces that can be used to create multiple outfits. Add essential items like solid color tops, jeans, little black dress (LBD), and other staple pieces. This is ideal if you want to decrease clutter in your closet and is also good for traveling.
Balance your wardrobe
Have a variety of items that fit your body and fits your taste. Push the envelope on your personal style and try new things.
-Mix modern and vintage
-Bold and subtle
-Designer vs. non-designer
Make sure the clothes fit your body type
What’s your body type? Fashion is about feeling beautiful and comfortable in what you wear and who you are. Every body type is different from others, it’s important to find out what’s best for you. Sometimes it’s hard to adapt to certain trends because of our gorgeous shapes.
Don’t be afraid of color
Take a risk. Step outside of your comfort zone and try out COLOR. Color captures the essence and creativity of a look. To create an outfit, wear a combination of colors or go for a monochromatic (“single based color extended with shades, tones, and tints”) look. Will you be making any changes to your style?
Mix patterns and textures
Playing around with patterns and textures can add interest to your look. Combining these two can be a hit or miss moment. For example, if you pair a knit crop top with animal print bottoms, you have to think about colors, fabrics, and patterns to see if they go well together. Mix, match, and experiment.
Textures: Denim, suede, wool, silk, and leather
Patterns: Animal print, stripes, polka dots, and plaid
Be sure to add pieces for layering
Layering can be fashionable. Learning to layer your clothes takes time and practice.
Don’t over do it.
